The agent roster maintained by The College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (CPATA or “the College”) lists 2,797 agents in all licence categories (active, inactive, trainees, surrenders, suspensions) as of 31-Dec-2021.
The College’s agent lookup tool facilitates City, but not Province-based agent lookups. For example, you can enter “Burnaby” to get a list of agents in Burnaby, British Columbia. However, entering “British Columbia” doesn’t produce a list of BC-based agents—nothing is returned.

The “Inactive” category pertains to agents who have withdrawn from practice while preserving the possibility of reinstatement to active practice status.
The “Surrendered” category pertains to agents who have withdrawn from practice.
The “Suspended” category pertains to agents who did not pay the College’s fees to maintain their practice entitlement for 2021. The College’s Bylaws provide for revocation of licences that have been suspended for at least five (5) consecutive years.
