Prior to the amendments to the Canadian Trademarks Act which took effect 17-Jun-2019, a Canadian trademark application could assert various bases for registration of the trademark in Canada. This image shows a breakdown of such "registrability claims" for the 64,036 applications filed in 2018. Note that a single application could assert multiple different registrability claims.
